Case Study

Design, supply, and installation of 2Nr 14kw Hitachi air source heat pumps

The initial installation was completed approximately 2013 as part of a new build extension to the school creating the new ‘Australia’ block. Due to some maintenance and quality issues the original unit failed and was beyond economic repair.

Wolf TBS Ltd were invited to look at the existing set up and provide a solution with a long-term view in mind. Subsequently we provided detailed design calculations and carried out the installation of two 14kw Hitachi monobloc air source heat pumps. Installing two units allows the heat load to be split meaning better energy efficiencies and residual back up in the event of a unit failure.

The works involved isolation, de gas and removal of the original unit, and pipework modifications to the LTHW primary circuit to allow for a cascade set up (duty/assist).
